3D Nipple & Areola Restoration

Three-dimensional tattooing designed to restore the natural appearance of the nipple and areola after surgery.

3D nipple and areola restoration is a specialized paramedical tattooing technique that uses carefully layered pigment, shading, highlights, and artistic detail to recreate the appearance of a natural nipple and areola.

This treatment can be performed following mastectomy and breast reconstruction or to improve the appearance of existing areolas after surgery. Each tattoo is individually designed to complement your anatomy, skin tone, surgical results, and personal goals.

This is paramedical tattooing, and it is unhurried. Appointments begin with a conversation about your history, your reconstruction, and what you hope to see in the mirror. Nothing is rushed, nothing is assumed, and you are in control of the pace throughout. A perfecting session refines color and depth once healing is complete.

Leslie is a registered nurse, so scar tissue, sensitivity, and healing are assessed with clinical judgment rather than guesswork.

Leslie was an absolute dream to work with for my areola tattooing following a double mastectomy. She was kind, patient, and very understanding of the emotional journey I was on. I LOVE the results. It took me 3 years to decide to do this and I’m so glad I finally took the leap. Now when I look in the mirror I see a beautiful body and not just scars.

You can’t imagine the compliments I have gotten from the people that knew I was having it done. They all thought they looked natural. Having this done after having breast cancer with a double mastectomy and implants makes me feel complete. It really boosts the self confidence when you look in the mirror.

Questions about areola restoration

  • How soon after reconstruction can I have areola tattooing?

Usually 6 months after your final reconstruction surgery, once your surgeon has cleared you.

  • Can radiated skin be tattooed?

Yes, once fully healed. Leslie assesses the skin first and will tell you honestly.

  • Will insurance cover it?

Some insurance plans cover areola tattooing as part of breast reconstruction if it is performed by a registered nurse. Leslie can provide an itemized receipt, the CPT code and her NPI number to submit to your insurer.

  • How much does it cost?

$450 for one side; $650 for both. Your perfecting session is included.

  • Does it hurt?

Many clients have no or reduced sensation after mastectomy, but numbing is available. You control the pace throughout, and you can pause at any time.

  • How many sessions will I need?

One main session, then a perfecting session once healing is complete to refine color and depth.
